The Lulu Guinness Paint Project

Lulu Guinness is a British fashion brand, best known for its playful, quirky handbags and accessories—often featuring bold lips, retro glamour, and witty statement designs.

I had been experimenting with making paints with explosives and paint. This work caught the eye of Lulu’s team and we set about figuring out how to bring this chaotic painting method to Lulu’s world of handbags and accessories.

Partnering with artist agency Beautiful Crime I worked with Lulu’s team to create a collection of 200 clutch bags.

The finished product

One challenge was how to incorporate the lip logo into the design?

The idea was simple - we’d put a sticker over them, then blast the bags with a steel gas cannon. Removing the sticker revealed the logo.

The bags were the centrepiece of a live event at the Old Post Office in Holborn, London.

The project was featured in Vogue, Elle, The Evening Standard, Metro, and the Daily Telegraph, the bag collection went on sale around the world.
